NCOPE’s Position Statement on O&P State Licensure

The National Commission on Orthotic & Prosthetic Education is an educational accreditor which functions to create standards and guidelines for orthotic, prosthetic, and pedorthic educational programs at the academic institution and post-graduate level, including residency education. States with licensure may have specific requirements, including length of residency, location of residency, and qualifications of residency director. It is the responsibility of the candidate and host/sponsor institution to comply with any state, regional, or federal regulations that supersede the NCOPE standards.
