Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start looking for a residency?
It is never too early to start searching for a residency site. You have a better chance of locating a residency site if you are willing to relocate to other states. Keep in mind that some facilities have specific dates for which residents must apply.
Can I use my Typhon account I used while attending my O & P school?
No. Your Typhon account that NCOPE sets up for you is separate from the account you may have used while attending an O & P program. You will be required to pay a 75.00 access fee once your Typhon account for NCOPE is set up. Typhon fees will increase to 80.00 on January 1, 2014.
Will my residency site pay my resident registration fees?
Check with your employer on who will pay your resident registration fee. In most cases the site will pay the fee, but there are some facilities that require the resident to pay their own fees. This is a good question to ask when trying to locate a residency site.
Since I have to register before I start my residency, do I have to have my residency fee accompany my registration form?
You do not have to have your fee accompany your registration form. It’s most important to go ahead and send in your registration form so that NCOPE can proceed with the registration process. NCOPE will automatically generate an invoice to your facility referencing your residency if payment does not arrive with the registration form. Not having the fee in right away does not delay your start date.
Where can I find the quarterly evaluation forms that my director/mentor has to complete?
As a resident, you will not be able to locate these forms in Typhon. Only a residency director and or mentor have access to these forms in Typhon when they log in to their account.
How do I know when evaluations are due?
NCOPE suggest that you go to the Residents page at www.ncope.org to generate a resident timeline. This will assist you with staying on schedule and with the assignments that must be completed by you and your director and or mentor during the residency program.
Can I pay my Typhon and registration fee at the same time?
You must pay your Typhon Access Fee via credit card directly to Typhon. Once you become a resident, and are prompted to log in, you will automatically be directed t the payment page to pay the access fee. Your account will not be active until this is paid. Residency directors and mentors do not incur a fee for the use of Typhon.
